The Accountant III prepares journal entries, performs and assists others with difficult and involved reconciliations, researches and assists others with exceptions, and analyzes trends and costs to validate results. This team member relies on several years of experience and judgment to plan and accomplish a variety of job functions and closing activities. The Accountant III works under very limited supervision and interacts with other departments and/or external parties when necessary.JOB DUTIES:Prepare and input complex journal entries to the general ledger. Calculate and validate accruals and assist and guide others with the same. Prepare complex monthly management reports and analysis, which includes ad:hoc, one:time requests with little or no direction. Prepare reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts and review reconciliations performed by others as assigned. Research, document and resolve the most difficult reconciling items, which requires advanced problem solving capabilities. Prepare external and internal audit schedules. Lead requirements related to documentation and compliance with Sarbanes:Oxley. Question and investigate unusual / non:routine transactions and account balance variances.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:Reports to: Accounting Supervisor, Accounting Manager, Accounting Manager II, or AVP General LedgerSubordinates: NoneKnowledge: Advanced understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Advanced knowledge of standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures. Strong background with automated accounting systems. Proficient with Excel.Skills: Ability to perform analysis on complex transactions. Very strong organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Detail oriented. Ability to work in a team environment. Experience with a financial reporting tools and data base query tools. Experience: 5 : 10 yearsA? experience in public or general accounting and/or financial analysis, preferably with a financial services background. Bachelor degree in business with an Accounting major or a Bachelor degree in Finance with a strong accounting emphasis. WORK CONDITION:Normal office environment but may require some overtime during month end close. Subject to stress imposed by end close deadlines.
