Salary Range:$62,700-$94,500



  • Responsible for the accounting of BNSF benefit plans, trust accounts, forecasting, XBRL and other external reporting responsibilities as assigned.

  • Provide support to the department regarding preparation and review of Form 11-Ks, Benefit Plan financial statements, and Form 5500s.

  • Act as a liaison among several internal departments and the external auditors to properly account for and audit benefit plans.

  • Proactively identify, recommend and implement process improvements.

  • Stay current on new and innovative practices and trends in the Benefits field

    Successful candidate must be a self-starter, have the ability to meet deadline-oriented tasks and demonstrate the ability to organize team efforts to accomplish common goals. This position will positively contribute to a high-morale/high-performance culture.


  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field is required.

  • MBA or CPA preferred.

  • Applicant must possess a solid understanding of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

  • Applicant must have familiarity with ERISA and compliance requirements and reporting requirements of benefit plans and accounting controls.

  • Additionally, must be proactive in establishing vendor relationships to ensure positive customer relationships.

  • Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and communication skills and must be able to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities.

  • High proficiency in excel required.SAP experience a plus.

  • Minimum three years experience with BNSF or the accounting department of another company (public accounting experience is a plus).
