DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the accounting of BNSF benefit plans, trust accounts, forecasting, XBRL and other external reporting responsibilities as assigned.
Provide support to the department regarding preparation and review of Form 11-Ks, Benefit Plan financial statements, and Form 5500s.
Act as a liaison among several internal departments and the external auditors to properly account for and audit benefit plans.
Proactively identify, recommend and implement process improvements.
Stay current on new and innovative practices and trends in the Benefits field
Successful candidate must be a self-starter, have the ability to meet deadline-oriented tasks and demonstrate the ability to organize team efforts to accomplish common goals. This position will positively contribute to a high-morale/high-performance culture.
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field is required.
MBA or CPA preferred.
Applicant must possess a solid understanding of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Applicant must have familiarity with ERISA and compliance requirements and reporting requirements of benefit plans and accounting controls.
Additionally, must be proactive in establishing vendor relationships to ensure positive customer relationships.
Applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and communication skills and must be able to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
High proficiency in excel required.SAP experience a plus.
Minimum three years experience with BNSF or the accounting department of another company (public accounting experience is a plus).
