Position SummaryThe Business Analyst will work as a liaison between Information Technology and other groups within the business. The person will be responsible for analyzing and documenting organizational business problems, processes and requirements, identifying opportunities for improvement, and working with other areas of IT to recommend solutions to improve the business. This role will be a key change facilitator within the company and deliver effective solutions which provide tangible business benefits within measurable timelines. The person must be a great communicator, thinker and problem solver, with the ability to understand and respond to user needs in rapidly changing business environment and should be able to operate under general or minimum supervision. Duties & ResponsibilitiesIdentifies opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system driver changes; assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes.Consults with management and personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access.Support the business team in use and understating of systems, help with prioritization of business issues and needs.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Plans, organizes and conducts business process reengineering/improvement projects.Improves systems by studying current practices and designing modifications. Works with decision makers, system owners, and end users to define business requirements and system goals, translates business need into technical requirements. Works with developers to ensure functionality meets business need.Oversees successful delivery of projects, and provides project management support.Creates and maintains detailed business and system requirement specifications, use cases, user and system documentationCreate and execute test scripts, maintain traceability and coordinate with business team in testing.Provides orientation and training to end users for existing, modified and new systems. Other duties may be assigned. Typical Minimum Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree from four-year College or university, four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in IT, Logistics or other relevant environment as a Business Analyst.Understanding of SDLC.Highly proficient in Microsoft Project, Visio and Office suite.Experience in doing business, functional and technical specifications.Excellent problem solving, analytical and communication skills, with ability to learn new business functions.Experience with Business Process Modeling using BPMN 2.0 standards in modeling a plus.Environmental RequirementsThis position requires working in an office setting, with long periods of time sittingMust be able to stand, bend, push and pull at least up to 10 lbsPosition SummaryThe Business Analyst will work as a liaison between Information Technology and other groups within the business.
