The Senior Data Architect is responsible for providing broad-based technical support in the research, experimentation, business analysis and use of systems technology including architecture, integration capabilities and database management for the Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence organization. The incumbent is responsible for implementing project and maintenance tasks of moderate complexity that require a high level of technical knowledge to support the definition and design of data architecture while providing technical assistance to technical team members, users and external customers as appropriate. Responsibilities include consulting with the business to determine logical and physical database designs for new business solutions;, data architecture design and maintenance; and coordinating, leading and supporting project teams in the development of data warehouse and business intelligence enterprise systems. Keeps current on legal and technical issues that impact the County. **POSITIONS MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME** AFTER A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS IS RECEIVED Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Develops and designs logical and physical data models of moderate complexity. 2. Participates in communications with end-users and subject matter experts to understand information needs and imbed into a logical data model in support of data warehouse/business intelligence initiatives. 3. Reviews source systems and business publications of moderate complexity to accurately capture new data requirements and integrate them into the logical data model. 4. Participates in data model reviews with developers, architects, business analysts and subject matter experts to collaborate and gain consensus. 5. Keeps the logical and physical models synchronized and understands how information translates between the two models. 6. Evolves the logical data model over time and works with developers to ensure it is leveraged across all projects. 7. Advocates for the practice of modeling in technology and communicates the benefits to Tarrant County. 8. Drives metadata documentation and makes it available to those that depend upon it. 9. Writes moderately to complex SQL queries to database for data manipulation and reporting. 10. Participates in team and end-user meetings as requested. 11. Maintains business process procedures in conjunction with the process owners. 12. Resolves Request/Incident tickets from users and provides telephone and on-.ite technical support to troubleshoot and fix moderate to complex customer department end-user problems. 13. Analyzes and resolves moderate to complex data model problems. 14. Performs all other related duties as required. Minimum Requirements: NOTE**: You must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.* Must have a Bachelor's degree **+**Three (3) full-times years of experience in information technology including experience or training in database and telecommunication systems. **-OR-** Must have an Associate's degree **. **Five (5) full-times years of experience in information technology including experience or training in database and telecommunication systems. **-OR-** Must have a High School Diploma or GED **. **Seven (7) full-times years of experience in information technology including experience or training in database and telecommunication systems. Strong knowledge of relational database technology, transaction processing and data warehouse design and modeling and design tools is required. Ability to express technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing required. Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience required. **_Licensure or certification not required but considered a plus._**_ _ Must possess knowledge of modeling to third normal form and benefits of normalization. Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), XML schema design, metadata registry, master data management, data dictionaries, data warehousing and relational database is preferred. Must be able to multi-task and work independently on moderate to complex assignments using independent discretion and judgment as well as transition quickly between projects/issues with minimal supervision. Must have the ability to gather requirements, analyze systems, develop solutions, test and document changes working in collaboration with other team members. Must have the ability to gather, understand and translate business requirements into system solutions. Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to easily and effectively interact with technical, non-technical, support, and business staff at all levels. Position requires the ability to consistently meet deadlines. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with both team members and customers. Must have the ability to verify that the product meets the requirements. Position requires the ability to follow standards and system methodology. Must be able to display a courteous and professional demeanor. *Must have a valid and current driver's license. **_If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing._** Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications since the age of seventeen (17) and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually. Incumbent must hold a valid Driver's License or State Issued ID card.
