Job Description:/h3:
The Materials Manager is responsible for: managing the purchasing and inventory activities across all the companys four divisions; strategically aligning our procurement of commodities with the best available resources utilizing the latest innovations in technology; implement standard inventory control policies and procedures by corporate; and further develop our relationships with our suppliers and measure their quality and performance against our internal metrics and expectations. This position reports to an executive level of management.
:Requires a bachelors degree from an accredited University, in business, supply chain management or related field.
:Minimum 10+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, to include commodity management across various categories such as raw materials, energy, MRO supplies, component repairs/rebuilds, capital, and services procurement.
:10+ years of experience managing key management positions: procurement, supply chain and materials.
:10+ years of progressive related work experience in the metals/steel and services industry.
:10+ years experience in manufacturing with inventory control experience, preferably with steel products preferred.
:APICS Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or equivalent credentials
:Experience with interviewing vendors and prospective vendors and negotiating prices.
:Experience with EPICOR MRP/ERP software.
As a Materials Manager, for electric utility transmission, substation, and distribution industry, the ideal incumbent possesses the:
:Ability and experience to interact and provide material requirements, technical information and specifications to other internal departments.
:Ability to communicate (oral and written) with client to determine client requirements and answer any inquires.
:Knowledge of steel tubular pole structures shop operations.
:Exceptional integrity with strong leadership, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
:Demonstrated team building, conflict resolution, problem solving, and superior communication and computer skills
:Maintain and develop policies and procedures of the corporate purchasing function to ensure compliance with our own internal controls.
:Ensure contracts with suppliers and vendors are consistent with corporate objectives
:Provide expertise in specifying and procuring raw materials, maintenance, repair, operating supplies, capital equipment, and outside services needed for the company.
:Manage and control the purchasings budget.
:Visit, evaluate, and approve suppliers as required.
:Manage direct sales of scrap, surplus material and by:products ensuring we are receiving competitive pricing.
:Manage Purchasing team activities by supervising the buyers, understanding their needs, providing training, creating accountability, and encouraging personal growth.
:Provide leadership, demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and openly, and understand plans and instructions relating work to be done within the department.
:Develop high quality, concise and focused management reports for Executive Management team.
:Understand plant managers and engineers needs to ensure we are able to provide good service and assist with any cost:savings opportunities.
:Assist Engineering and Sales with new products, specifically building business cases for new product launches and submitting timely estimates for new business quotes.
:Implement processes for receiving, usage, transfers and shipping established by Corporate.
:Work with
purchasing/planners on inventory levels and maintain minimums and maximums of inventory items.
:Implement standard cycle counting process as established by Corporate.
:Supervise and coordinate a standardized annual physical inventory for location.
