Job Description This position is responsible for the planning, organization, implementation and maintenance of CCPN providers coding education and training to ensure compliance with established policy/procedure, accuracy, risk management, contractual and regulatory requirements. Serves as the provider coding education liaison to the physician network and other system departments, including Internal Audit and HIMs dept. Preforms/oversees coding audits: analyzing and evaluating provider documentation and E&M/CPT coding (both medical and surgical; inpatient and outpatient) that meets national standards. Develops and oversees all educational sessions to providers when hired and as needed, monitoring and participating in performance improvement initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree required. At least 4 to 5 current years of experience with E&M/CPT coding for outpatient office setting, with a working knowledge of the 1997 CMS/AMA Documentation Guidelines. Supervisory experience preferred. Clinical documentation improvement experience and knowledge of TrailBlazer audit tool desired. Knowledge/experience in navigation of EMR applications, coding decision support tools, computer assisted coding/CDI tools, Microsoft office applications required. Ability to provide excellent customer service with interactions. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification: CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification required; RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technologist) certification preferred. #LI-BT Cook Children's is an EOE/AA - Minority/Females/Disability/Vet
