Job Description:/h3:
The Structural Engineer (Structural Steel Engineer) is responsible for the design of steel tubular pole structures for electric utility transmission, substation, and distribution. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering.
EXPERIENCE
:Requires a bachelors of science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, with emphasis on steel structures, from a university program that is ABET accredited. Other disciplines are not considered.
:5+ years of working knowledge and experience with national codes, such as, ASCE:48, :113, :7, and customer specific codes related to utility steel pole structures.
:5+ years of progressive related work experience in the structural design of the electric utility transmission, substation, and distribution steel pole structures using PLS:POLE software.
:Transmission and Distribution Experience required.
:Experience in AutoCAD is a plus.
:Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is strongly desired .
QUALIFICATIONS
As a Structural Engineer, in regard to steel tubular pole structures for electric utility transmission, substation, and distribution, the ideal incumbent possesses the:
:Ability and experience to conduct design and analysis of steel tubular pole structures using PLS:Pole software.
:Ability and experience to read customers drawings, specifications, provide information for the development and review of fabrication drawings.
:Ability and experience to interact and provide material requirements, technical information and specifications to other internal departments.
:Ability to communicate (oral and written) with client to determine client requirements and answer any inquires.
:Knowledge of steel tubular pole structures shop operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
:Structural design of steel tubular pole structures and their components.
:Assisting in the engineering technical support of operations and projects.
:Assisting in all aspects of engineering related steel design, detailing and fabrication.
:Coordinating structural steel engineering activities with other internal departments.

The position generally works in an office environment, but is expected to become familiar with production operations and to independently visit company locations (3) within DFW, as directed. The position requires minimum physical exertion, including but not limited to, sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and walking on rough ground. This position may be exposed to changes in temperature and/or humidity, and being near moving equipment. Must be able to lift and push/pull up to 25 lbs. This position will be required to submit to criminal history check, physical, and drug/alcohol testing. Salary commensurate with experience. Falcon Steel America is an EOE.
