The Data Architecture Manager leads a team of Data Architects responsible for designing and documenting enterprise databases. This team is responsible for publication and availability of enterprise meta:data pertaining to the Data Warehouse as well as numerous other internal databases. The team works with IT representatives and business representatives from across the company in order to understand data related needs and translate those needs into data driven solutions. JOB DUTIES:Communicate with users to plan, develop, improve and maintain complex components of the logical/physical corporate data model Maintain and administer the corporate meta:data repository Maintain and adhere to enterprise modeling standards Develop and document data migration mappings and transformations for data warehouse loading. Work closely with Database Administrators and Data Warehouse ETL experts resulting in effective solutions Work closely with users to understand and help develop functional specifications Develop and present training materials as needed to clarify model meaning and usageAssist developers and end:users with database usage, query development, and tuningPosition will involve the data portion of various projects ranging from the installation of new packaged applications to the development of custom databases for in house developed applications. Project teams will be composed of multi:disciplinary teams including business analysts, systems analysts, DBA, programmers, and client users Competent to work at the highest level of all phases of data administratioPosition will lead efforts at establishing data architecture standards and best practices. Will oversee adherence to these standards REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:Reports to: Assistant Vice President Data Warehouse Solutions Direct Reports: Data Architects Qualifications KnowledgeMust have extensive knowledge of relational databases.Thorough knowledge of SQL.Thorough understanding of data modeling and extensive experience in modeling techniques required. Must have proficient business knowledge in the subject areas being modeled.SkillsMust have strong project management skills.Must have the ability to think logically and design data structures for applications.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and a heavy workload.Must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to lead and coordinate others to accomplish goals.ExperienceBachelors Degree preferred. Suitable experience will substitute.Minimum 7 years overall experience in information systems is required. Experience should include extensive project related work, preferably application development projects and data warehouse projects.Minimum 5 years data modeling experience.Experience with Oracle is highly desired.Extensive experience with Data Modeling tools such as ERwin. Working ConditionsNormal office environment. Will require occasional overtime. Must be able to provide routine off:hours support from home. May require very limited travel.
